Add "Overdue Invoices" figure
Add the value of Overdue Invoices in the "In My Studio" area on the Dashboard.
Outstanding Invoices value is good to have, but the Overdue figure is more vital to keep track of.

Invoices do not show past due balances. For a past due balance, please use the statement. It is found in the “money” tab and scroll down to statements. Here you select the family and a date criteria that can span across several months so you can see what is outstanding. You can also email this to the family.

Sorry, not sure I explained it properly.
The suggestion is a single value being shown on the Dashboard that displays the Balance Due TOTAL of all invoices that are "Overdue", i.e., meets the following criteria:
"Invoice due date" LESS THAN Today's Date AND "Balance Due" GREATER THAN $0.
Exactly same as going to the invoice list, selecting "Overdue" in the drop-down (leaving everything else blank), and adding up all the values from the "Bal. Due" column.
That figure is the value that we spend most of our office time trying to reduce - all the overdue payments. It would be really handy to have that figure on the dashboard.
No statements for individual families are needed, just one figure.
